Drywall Repair Before Paint in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
Hole patching, crack repair, water damage restoration, texture matching and corner bead replacement, finished so the wall is ready for the final coat.
The damage a coat of paint will only highlight
Fresh paint is honest about the wall underneath it. A nail pop that you never noticed in flat old paint throws a tiny shadow once the new coat goes on, and a patch that was not feathered out shows up as a pale square the moment sun crosses the room.
Most of what we are asked to fix is ordinary: accidental impacts from furniture or doorknobs, holes from removed wall fixtures, nail pops from a house settling, and cracks in walls or ceilings. North Texas clay soil swells in wet spells and shrinks in dry ones, and a house sitting on it moves a little with the seasons, so settlement cracks are common around door frames and ceiling lines.
Water is the one to take seriously. A leak that makes drywall bubble or soften has to be found and stopped before anyone patches anything, because paint over a wet board only hides the problem for a while. Pests and rodents can also chew through board and leave damage you can see from the room.

How a State 28 repair gets from damaged to paint-ready
Every repair starts with the cause. If a crack keeps reopening or a stain keeps returning, the patch is only a bandage, so we look at what moved or leaked before we cut or fill. The repair itself covers hole patching, crack repair, water damage restoration, corner bead replacement and finish work, done room by room by our technicians.
Texture is where a repair is won or lost. Our technicians match the texture already on your walls, so a patch in a hallway does not read as a smooth island in a wall that is sprayed or hand-troweled everywhere else. Then the repair is finished and sanded to blend, primed so it does not soak up paint differently than the board around it, and left ready for the painters.
A project manager is on the job site while this happens, and the in-house color consultant can step in if the repair is the start of a bigger repaint. Most repairs are done within one to two days, depending on how extensive the damage is.
Paint after the repair, and what comes next
Painting after a repair is not always required, but it is how you get one uniform surface. A patched spot dried and primed on a wall that is otherwise faded will still look like a patch, so most customers have us repaint the whole wall or room while the crew is already there. State 28 offers both the repair and the painting under one project manager.
If the drywall problem is on the ceiling, the same repair applies. Older textured ceilings are a separate job, covered under popcorn ceiling removal, and homes built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint, which is why testing is its own service. Calling (214) 771-9145 in Grapevine or anywhere across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex gets you a free same-day quote, and a three-year labor and materials warranty comes with the work.

Everything on the repair sheet
Drywall repair is one of five preparation services State 28 offers, alongside lead-based paint testing, popcorn ceiling removal, sanding and wood priming. Once the walls are sound, they move straight into interior house painting or ceiling painting.
Older home? Ask about lead-based paint testing before any sanding starts, or read about popcorn ceiling removal if the texture overhead is the real problem.
